📈 Use Case: From Static Lists to Smart Conversations
Redesigning the Watchlists Experience
2025 | Senior Product Designer
CONTEXT
The original Watchlists feature allowed users to track key entities like companies, products, locations, or people. While functional, the experience was data-heavy and manual: users had to search for entities one by one, add them to their list, and browse through dense dashboards to find relevant information.
CHALLENGE 🚧
How might we transform Watchlists into a proactive, intelligent, and conversational tool—something that not only displays data but truly helps users understand what's happening with the entities they care about?
GOAL 🎯
Redesign Watchlists into an interactive, real-time experience where users can chat with their lists, ask questions, and get relevant insights effortlessly—without needing to dig through raw data.

👨💻 My Role ON THIS FEATURE
As Senior Product Designer, I led the end-to-end redesign of the Watchlists experience, shaping a new user journey focused on clarity, relevance, and ease of use.
🔍 Research & UX Strategy
Conducted user interviews and flow analysis to identify key pain points: information overload, lack of context, and difficulty spotting relevant changes.
Collaborated with the product team to define a new vision: a chat-first experience where users engage with their Watchlists as if speaking to a financial assistant.
💬 Conversational Experience Design
Designed an interface that allows users to ask natural-language questions like:
“What’s new with my Watchlist this week?” or “Are there any major alerts about Microsoft or Tesla?”
“What’s new with my Watchlist this week?” or “Are there any major alerts about Microsoft or Tesla?”
The assistant responds with clear summaries, real-time insights, contextual charts, and deep links powered by our internal data engine.
🧩 UI & Design System Integration
Simplified the visual experience by focusing on actionable insights instead of overwhelming data tables.
Used Figma to build high-fidelity, modular components, ensuring consistency with our design system and scalability across the platform.
⚡ Rapid Prototyping & Strategic Alignment
Leveraged Lovable to quickly prototype flows and conversational scenarios.
Shared interactive prototypes with stakeholders early and often to align on strategic direction, gather feedback, and iterate with agility.
🤝 Cross-functional Collaboration
Worked closely with AI and development teams to define how the assistant understands Watchlist context and delivers relevant responses.
Conducted usability tests that showed increased user satisfaction, trust, and efficiency when interacting with their Watchlists.

📈 Impact
Transforming Watchlists from a static dashboard into a conversational, AI-powered assistant had a measurable effect on user engagement and perception. While still in its early stages, the redesign showed strong early signals during internal rollout and pilot testing:
⏳ Time to Insight decreased by 45% — users could find relevant updates without navigating multiple screens or filtering dashboards.
💬 Conversational usage adoption: Over 65% of early adopters preferred interacting via the chat interface over manual browsing.
📊 User satisfaction score (via internal usability tests): +34% improvement, with users reporting greater clarity, confidence, and ease of use.
🔁 Increase in Watchlist engagement: 1.7× more frequent check-ins post-launch, suggesting deeper integration into users’ daily workflows.
🧠 Users described the assistant as “smart,” “focused,” and “way easier than searching through dashboards.”
These outcomes validated our vision of proactive insights over passive data, and laid the groundwork for applying the conversational model to other parts of the platform.
🎥 Deliverables
What I delivered:
- High-fidelity conversational UI mockups in Figma, integrated with our design system
- Prototype flows simulating real-time chat queries, built using Lovable
- Conversation design guidelines, including tone, fallback behavior, and insight formatting
- User journey maps comparing the old vs. new Watchlist experience
- Usability testing plan & insights, synthesized into clear recommendations for MVP
- Cross-team documentation to align engineering, AI, and product on assistant behavior and UX edge cases
What I’m proud of:
